What is the maximum power supply current that this can safely handle? To power all 8 ports for 802.3at would require 240 watts or 5 amps of 48v.
This will handle 240 watts, but we have other products for 802.3at. See the WS-GPOE-AB-6 or WS-GPOE-12, since in many cases, people with 802.3at also want gigabit data rates.
Why is this 10/100 and not gigabit if it\'s just supplying power?
Gigabit Ethernet needs all 8 wires / 4 pairs to be used for data. Additional electronics are needed for power and data to share the same pairs.
In 10/100, data and power do not use the same wires For Gigabit, see the model WT-GPOE-8 .
Can I Supply this with 24V?
Yes, the POE-8 can be powered with 24V DC. Some kit options we have are POE-8-24v30w, POE-8-24v60w, and POE-8-24v120w.
What does the green light mean when it is on solid and what does it mean when flashing.
A green solid LED is indicating that the injector is receiving power. A flashing LED indicates a power draw over the port limit of the inejctor. Please feel free to email our technical support team service@poetexas.com. We are happy to help trouble shoot as needed. Thank you!
Will this injector work at 10/100 with LAN side connected to gigabit switch and PoE side connected to 10/100 device?
Yes. This injector can only support up to 10/100 mbps, even if it is used with a gigabit switch.
