QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • What are the following for the WS-GPOES-8-7-24v60w? 1. Non-blocking throughput 2. Switching capacity 3. Forwarding rate

The WS-GPOES-8-7 will only put power on 1 mode (mode A OR mode B) at a time. You could use one WS-GPOES-8-7 to power another through the uplink port, the mode for power will be determined by the main power sourcing equipment. This switch will provide 1000 mbps from a 1000mbps source, and is completely passive for data.

  • What happens if a device that does not require POE connects to one of the ports? For example, it will be a laptop or PLC

To avoid sending power to a laptop or PC or other network device, we recommend that you turn the power off to that PoE port manually on the back of the switch.

  • How do I switch the unit to Mode from mode A 24 volt to mode A 48 volt?

The switch WS-GPOES-8-7 can only support (1) power input into the device (mode a or b). We offer step up converters if you are ading 48 volt devices onto your 24 volt system. Please see our WS-POE-48V10W unit. If you are upgrading all of your powered devices to 48volt/ 802.3af units, you could replace the power adapter with WS-PS-48V60W or WS-PS-48V120W.
