Active PoE means the right power at the right time. An active PoE injector negotiates with the powered device to deliver the voltage needed, so there are no concerns about accidentally burning out lower powered or non-PoE devices. Power is only added to the data cable when an 802.3af or 802.3at device is connected.

Will this injector work with a Netgear WAC505? I can't find documentation on the pinout requirements for that AP. Thanks!
Yes, this injector will work for your AP. According to the user manual I found on the Netgear WAC505, the AP is IEEE 802.3af/at compliant. Our WT-AT-4-48v60w is also 802.3at compliant and will negotiate power to your device according to the standard.
