  • What do I need to power a Ubiquity UAP-AC-IW-PRO? Unlike the Ubiquity ceiling mount APs it doesn't come with it's own injector. At https://inwall.ubnt.com it says I need 802.3at PoE+. Note that I may add one or two other Ubiquity UAP-AC points later. It appears I might need WT-AT-4-48V60W or WT-AT-4-56V60W. Would either work? What's the difference and would they also power other Ubiquity UAP-AC devices? Lite, LR, Pro, IW and IW-Pro all appear to support 802.3af. Pro, IW, IW-Pro also support 802.3at. (This based on info here: https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000263008--UniFi-Understanding-PoE-and-How-UniFi-Devices-are-Powered). Thanks.

The Ubiquiti UAP-AC-IW-Pro is in fact 802.3at and 802.3af compliant. The difference is the amount of available wattage per port. The IEEE 802.3af standard will allow up to 15 watts of DC power per port while the IEEE 802.3at standard will allow up to 25 watts per port. I found in the documentation you provided that the UAP-AC-IW-Pro has a max consumption of 7 watts so you would be ok with purchasing the WT-AT-4-48v60w. If you decide to add additional Ubiquiti APs later, please confirm that they also follow the 802.3af standard. Ubiquiti has AP devices which follow the 24 volt passive standard and we offer a step down converter in this case. Otherwise, if they do follow the 802.3af standard, you will be able to use the WT-AT-4-48v60w injector and power supply for those additional devices.
