Active PoE means the right power at the right time. An active PoE injector negotiates with the powered device to deliver the voltage needed, so there are no concerns about accidentally burning out lower powered or non-PoE devices. Power is only added to the data cable when an 802.3af or 802.3at device is connected.

Searching the internet I see devices with same specs sometimes labelled as WT-AT-4 or AT-4. If ordered will I receive a device labelled WT-AT-4 or AT-4?

They are both the same device. Last year we changed our products and skus. This device was changed from WT-AT-4 to just AT-4.

Yes, the WT-AT-4 delivers Gigabit data speeds and is 802.3af/at compliant. It will work with the Proxim ORiNOCO AP-8100; with a max power draw of 12watts, I would recommend using a 48 volt, 60 watt power supply.
